New Year New Intentions!

Happy New Year!

Hello & warm New Year Wishes to you!

It is 2022 and I always love to start the first week of the year with a powerful mindfulness exercise. This exercise helps me to embody a spirit of intention and rejuvenation. In today’s blog, I am detailing it step by step in hopes that it will inspire you as well. So, grab some paper and something to write with and keep reading!

With family get togethers, company parties and social gatherings, it can be virtually impossible to sneak in a moment for yourself during this time of year. If you are anything like me, the hustle and bustle of the holiday season can often leave your head spinning! That ‘spinning head’ feeling is your body yelling at you to slow down and take some time for yourself. When I feel the need to quiet my mind, I turn to Rosemary and Clary Sage essential oils, two of my favorite oils, to recharge and rejuvenate the mind, body, and spirit in as little as ten minutes.

Write Your Intentions Down

Remember that pen and paper I mentioned earlier? Use it to write down 3-5 intentions. They can be as general or specific as you like. There is no right or wrong in this exercise. This is about you and what you want your year and day to look and feel like. By setting intentions, it allows me to stay more mindful throughout the day and focus on the energy I want to put out in the world. Daily intentions also help me to stay connected to the broader goal. Once you have written your intentions, find a quiet place to get comfortable – outdoors is a plus if weather permits! With this exercise, you can sit or lay; the most important thing is that you are comfortable and uninterrupted.

Breathe and Visualize

Next, apply your favorite The Artistry of Essential Oil blend to your temples, wrists or sides of your neck. Inhale deeply and slowly, taking in the aroma of the oil & truly allowing your body to relax as you exhale. Notice the parts of your body that come in contact with the surface that you are sitting or lying on. With each deep breath, allow your muscles to loosen and relax. Are your teeth clenched? If so, allow your jaw to relax. Are your shoulders hunched? If so, let them fall as you continue breathing deeply. Think about your intentions, one by one. Visualize yourself experiencing each of them. How will you feel once you have actualized these intentions? What will they spark for you?

Examples of Intention Setting

Today, I commit myself to....

Today, I intend to...

  • Be present in the moment

  • Stop taking things personally

  • See the goodness around me

  • Manifest happiness naturally

When you are ready, wiggle your fingers and toes and open your eyes. How do you feel? Incorporating just ten minutes to slow down each day and focus on your breathing and journaling can make a significant impact in your overall wellbeing. Consider making this a permanent part of your wellness routine and watch your life improve!

This exercise has been truly impactful for me; I can’t wait to hear about your experience with it!

Remember, everything that happens in the universe begins with intention.
